Kiwifruit Coaching

Meet Hazel Bloom

My name is Hazel Bloom, I am a transgender lesbian woman (she/her).
I’ve done the hard work on making peace between the dichotomy of society’s pressure to fit into a specific ideal to ‘pass’, and the need to be my authentic self regardless of what people may think of me. I am all about loving ourselves, finding what our gender, sexuality and identity mean for us, and then figuring out how we want to present that to the world.

Political forces want us to be scared and hide. Thriving and being visible is the ultimate revolution. I am not restricted by legislation as I do not accept insurance. You have utmost confidentiality and safety when working with me.

I’ve experienced the difficulty of living with a non-binary identity in a world that insists on being binary. I’ve experienced the shock and the disruption of figuring out I was actually more binary transgender at 32 while in a cis-straight-passing marriage, and the journey of coming out in both my personal and professional life. It’s been a challenging but rewarding journey, one well worth taking. I want to help others through their challenges so they can start living authentically.

I’m a certified Life Coach with the Academy of Modern Applied Psychology (Achology), and I have trained with Youthline Auckland and Rainbow Youth NZ as a Youth Crisis Counselor. I’m constantly studying and learning more about the healing arts, Queer culture, and psychology, to better serve my community, my clients, and myself in becoming the best version of ourselves.

I moved from Auckland, New Zealand to Washington State in 2022 where I now live with my incredible wife, Hannah, our cats and our dog. I’m an animal and nature lover; I enjoy the hikes and scenery here and all over the United States. I’m also a huge fan of the great indoors and will just as readily sit down with a good board game, video game or movie. I’m neurodivergent and proud, I can adapt my communication to work with almost anyone.

Being a human is hard and we all experience trauma, learning how to navigate through that trauma is something I’ve had to deal with personally and have utilized those lessons in my growth to then extend it to you and your journey.

Now that you know a bit about me, my question is: “Who are You?”. What I can do is use my expertise as a coach to help you in figuring out that answer for yourself.

I can safely say: You are not alone. You can do this.

I was very proud to be a guest on Electrolysis Unplugged with Joanie and Stephanie, I talk all about my journey as a trans woman and as a Queer Life Coach. I dive into my coaching philosophy and processes, and teach some universal skills too!

The Kiwifruit Coaching Approach

A common question I get when meeting with new clients is “How does coaching work?” one even said “How do I make sure I do it right?”.

I just want to reassure you right now - you can’t do it wrong!

My coaching approach is holistic, and trauma informed, acknowledging patriarchal challenges and helping my clients work towards an authentic life for themselves so they can thrive in their joy. That’s a whole lot of buzz words, let’s boil it down to this: you and I will talk, we’ll identify what you want your life to feel like, what you want to achieve, who you want to be. Then we will delve into the steps we need to take and the limiting beliefs we need to shed in order to get there.

That may include digging into some heavy topics, beliefs that were imposed upon you, traumatic events that informed your perspective of life. Internalized lies that have kept you trapped or stuck. I will help you through all of these with compassion and care - but I will also challenge you to confront yourself and ask you such questions as “WHY do you believe that? Is it true? Is it helpful or harmful?”.
If it doesn’t serve you or better your life, we’re getting rid of it. My approach is entirely tailored to you and what YOU need.

For instance, if you were questioning your gender and wanted to explore that space, we can work towards identifying who you see yourself as in your core and how we can make your external life match that as much as we can.
Notice I didn’t say anything about passing or “looking [gender] enough”, we are doing this for YOU, not for anyone else. We aren’t trading one societal expectation for another. We are throwing out the rulebook and writing our own.

There is no measurement of being trans or queer enough, no Council of Elder Queers judging everyone from on high as to whether they are “doing it right”. There is no correct age to transition. There is no correct way to transition. There is no correct way to express your gender.

There is no such thing as “too late”. There is still time.

This also applies to my cisgender clients; we are ALL limited by external expectations and we can all benefit from re-centering ourselves in our lives. Let’s pivot from external validation and find internal validation - instead of “what will people think?” we will get to “what will make me feel whole?”. We only get one life, why are we wasting it making other people happy and ourselves miserable?

Reach out and let’s figure out what living an authentic life looks like for you, and let’s start getting you there as soon as possible.
It’s going to be a journey well worth taking, you just need to take the first step!
